This was probably the worst film to watch on a poor mental health day, but it was amazing to witness a sold out theater be inspired by Amy Goodman’s words and actions. There was no time for a Q&A in the theater, so she sat outside the venue for a long time after, speaking with the crowd that gathered around her and taking questions. I always wonder how women like her are able to keep going. How can someone be beaten by police, witness genocide first-hand, become chronically sick, filter so much of the world’s darkness through their heart, and still have the strength to show up on the frontline of justice the next day? It’s a form of strength and dedication I’ll always admire. Someone asked her this question in so many words, and she said that she’s able to keep going because of the people around her. I guess that’s what it always comes back to: fighting alongside the people for the people — alongside each other for each other. It’s about solidarity. Forever.
She's a girl but she marks everywhere.
