RIP Stuart Gordon whose gnarly absurdist body-horror sensibility and background in provocative, political theater is so infused into this contained low-budget true crime thriller that it's basically unrecognizable from how any normal person would have made it. Instead it's a truly vicious, farcical horror movie where at every opportunity for someone to make a choice that helps/doesn't hurt someone else, class-based precarity stops them from doing so. It is genuinely insane that this is based on a real murder.
