I think this film speaks to the culture of the industry if anything. When an actor has the authority of a producer and is proven to be a bit demanding/ headstrong (not always a bad thing), mixed with firearms and perhaps an armorer who may not be as experienced, the result will never be very good. I’m not sure a single person is at fault (other than maybe the supplier…), rather it’s the fault of a system which needs to adapt to modern times where rushing people on such an active set with moving parts is simply unacceptable. I also think that the film was quite misplaced as a bit of a sob story, because in his case I think being unliked helped him due to pre-existing prejudice. I actually left feeling worse for the armorer than Alec… No verdict, just dismissal. Think about that.
It feels like a lip-service to Alec Baldwin till the last 1/4 of the film when it turns into a rivetting and head-spinning court drama.
