From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Lambert Hillyer (8 July 1889 – 5 July 1969) was an American film director and screenwriter. He directed over 160 films between 1917 and 1949. He also wrote for 54 films between 1917 and 1948. He was born in South Bend, Indiana and died in Los Angeles, California. His mother was the film character actress Lydia Knott. Lambert Hillyer was an American film director and screenwriter who helmed over 160 productions from the silent era through the 1940s.
He is best known for directing classic genre entries such as Universal's Dracula's Daughter, The Invisible Ray, and the original 1943 Batman serial.
He worked extensively within the Hollywood studio system, directing projects for Universal, Columbia, and various independent B-movie outfits.
