A nostalgic, underground neue deutsche welle act.
Emerging from Hamburg in 1979, Abwärts stands as one of the most enduring and influential groups in West German punk and Neue Deutsche Welle history. Their stark, driving sound blends post-punk urgency with cold wave atmospheres and uncompromising lyrical themes, cemented by breakthrough releases like the Amok Koma album. The band has continually evolved through various lineups and stylistic shifts, leaving a lasting imprint on the underground music scene.
