Achers

Achers are Pat, Pavel, Sabrina & Vicki. Based in London, they play catchy, earnest DIY post-hardcore-inspired indie rock, blending influences from Unwound and Fugazi to Drive Like Jehu, Wire and Pavement. Their five-track EP Bottom of the Hill was released in the UK by Everything Sucks Music and in the US by No Idea Records, marking the legendary Gainesville, Florida label’s first new release in nine years. Pat’s heartfelt lyrics explore class, parental anxiety, toxic online grifters and war, delivered through impassioned sing-shout vocals and underpinned by Pavel’s hypnotic guitars, Sabrina’s driving basslines and Vicki’s pounding drums. Achers formed in 2022 to play London’s First Timers Festival. Pat and Sabrina signed up before they had written a single song, with no full band and Pat having never sung lead vocals. With only weeks to pull together a set, they found Pavel online and recruited original drummer Illia. Somehow, they made it to the first gig. People were kind. No eggs were thrown. After Illia left in 2023, Vicki Butler, formerly of London post-punk band GHUM , joined after meeting Sabrina at a Girls Rock London event. Sabrina also plays bass in cult 1980s post-punk band Wasted Youth, while Pavel makes solo electronic music as Frailtynine. achers.org
