An underground jazz fusion act.
Akinroots is a contemporary jazz-fusion collective that boldly and sensitively blends jazz, funk, West African rhythms, and electronic music. The name Akinroots, meaning “similar roots,” evokes deep connections that unite individuals beyond distance and life paths. Some roots are not geographical—they are relational. The group builds its identity around synergy and exploration, offering a hybrid, modern, and slightly disruptive music in which acoustic and electronic elements coexist like cultures meeting without dissolving into one another. Their approach is not about modernizing or deconstructing jazz, but about setting it in motion again. Each composition becomes a meeting point, a space where influences converse and rhythms connect, allowing one to travel without getting lost, to explore without breaking the bond, and to transform while remaining grounded. Movement is not the opposite of rootedness—it is its continuation. Without ever falling into pretension, Akinroots offers an experience in which one recognizes oneself while remaining intrigued, immersed in a universe that is both familiar and new.
