A nostalgic folk artist from the local scene.
Azeem Hunzai is a vocalist from the majestic Hunza Valley in Northern Pakistan. He aims to share the celebration of Gilgit Baltistan's rich cultural heritage through folk songs and resistance poetry. He primarily sings in his Indigenous language isolate called Burushaski, as well as Khowar, Shina, and Urdu. Across centuries, the poetic intellectual tradition has remained the heartbeat of folklores and resilience against political exploitation and alienation. This indigenous intellect has been transmitted orally through poetry and yet not adequately scribed. Through his music, Azeem Hunzai aims to honor his heritage, preserving fading tunes and giving voice to the silenced. Each song is a tribute to the past, and a promise to the future to keep their cultural heritage alive.
