BABYRAT

Bursting out of Cork City, BABYRAT are a collision of razor-sharp guitars, huge pop hooks and technicolour attitude. Self-described as ‘bitch-pop’, the four-piece occupy the space where punk-rockers and pop-lovers share the dancefloor, pairing the guitar-driven urgency of The Strokes and Paramore with the sharp lyricism and emotional immediacy of Olivia Rodrigo or, as the band put it, “pop music dressed in rock’s clothing.” Since forming in late 2024, BABYRAT have played around 80 shows, going from local Battle of the Bands to sold-out headline shows in Cork and London, alongside support slots with Jack White at the Olympia Theatre, Taking Back Sunday on their Irish Tour, Bell X1 at Live At The Marquee, The Coronas at the Gleneagle Arena and Feeder at Cork City Hall. Festival appearances span Electric Picnic, All Together Now, The Great Escape, Other Voices, Ireland Music Week, and more, all before the release of their first single. At the heart of BABYRAT is a belief in living colourfully and not taking life too seriously. Drawing inspiration from coming-of-age cinema, late-night friendships and the heightened drama of growing up, they turn love, rage, heartbreak and bad decisions into something loud, playful and cathartic.
