An underground chamber pop artist.
Janie Price, performing as Bird, is an award-winning half-English, half-Irish singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based between London and Tuscany. Classically trained on cello from age 6, her music blends cinematic string arrangements with raw Americana storytelling — a sound entirely her own. Bird has released five albums, including the award-winning short film soundtrack Wider Than the Sky, which won 9 international festival awards. As a songwriter she has co-written and performed on two Number 1 gold-certified Hooverphonic albums, co-written for San Remo Festival winners Il Volo, and collaborated with John Paul White (The Civil Wars), Hal Lindes (Dire Straits), James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), and Andy Dunlop (Travis). Her latest EP Strange As Folk received a Highly Recommended review from Americana UK — "a graphic, haunting folktale of cinematic proportions" — and is currently charting on US college radio, including an Official Folk Add at core station KZSC Santa Cruz. New album Held Here Together releases June 26 2026 on vinyl and digital, followed by a UK support tour with Ward Thomas and Wandering Hearts in September. Voting member: The Ivors Academy, PRS, World Soundtrack Awards, Alliance for Women Film Composers
