Bowl
An underground post punk artist.
Bowl is an Utrecht based band that combines gritty Garage rock and disorienting Post-Punk with influences from New-Wave and Art-Rock. The band was formed in 2022 after an inspiring night in Groningen where they saw French band Unschooling. Since starting this five headed band consisting of frontman Vos Ploeg, guitarists Jorah Peterse and Pascal Mosterd, bassist Berend Suijker and drummer Laurens Klep have cemented themselves into the Dutch music scene. With the debut album “Sweet Caffeine” (2023) Bowl introduced their characteristic sound: Urgent, socially engaged lyrics with themes such as toxic masculinity and a dying earth, combined with chaotic yet danceable melodies. As a live band they further exemplify this with explosive, energetic live shows. In 2025 they’ve expanded their artistic vision with “The Rude Interruption of Fear”, a concept-album where the mental struggles of frontman Vos Ploeg are put to the forefront. The record, recorded and produced entirely in their home studio, tells a deeply personal story. The instrumentals on the record bounce from menacing and intense to melodic and hopeful, with a soundscape similar to an old cassette playing from a broken Walkman: Raw, Authentic and Insistent. With influences from Post-Punk, New-Wave and Art-Rock, Bowl continues to push boundaries. Their music isn't just an artistic experiment, but also a powerful documentation of human suffering, struggle, resilience and the urgency to keep creating.
