An underground, nostalgic darkwave act.
Cold Union is a darkwave duo founded by Julie and Charles Morose, merging the melancholic spirit of post-punk with the icy textures of vintage electronic music. The band began in Poland and later took shape in Iceland, where the cold, stark landscapes further deepened their sound. The band was formed in 2022, inspired by the darkwave movement and their shared passion for 80s music, the duo, who had already been together for three years, decided to channel their emotions and creativity into music. Cold Union was born as a reflection of their love for each other and their desire to explore the darker aspects of life through music. Charles (Karol Sobolewski) brings electric guitar, vocals, and synthesizers into their soundscape, while Julie (Julia Lemanowicz) provides bass lines that ground their atmospheric compositions. Their music is a seamless blend of analog and digital, combining drum machines, synthesizers, and guitar to create a sound that is both cold and deeply emotional. Their debut album, Deep in My Memory, is a testament to their time living in Iceland, where the vast, desolate environment became a metaphor for the emotional landscapes they explored in their songs. The album features eight tracks that delve into themes of love, sorrow, and isolation, with the Korg Poly-800 synthesizer playing a central role in shaping their haunting, electronic sound.
