Cuibul
Iconic band from Moldova formed at the moment in between the collapse of the USSR and the proclamation of the country’s independence. The band is known for pushing their sound beyond genre limitations, flirting with folk, funk, blues, jazz and rock. Celebrating almost 30 years of existence, the band has had multiple member formulas of different ages, with Igori Dinga, also producer of Zdob si Zdub, as its permanent musician from day one. Vise Elementare, from 2014, dived into mellow acoustic jazz-fusion. The band bounced back in 2018 with a brass section that revived the groovy and funk-infused sound that defined the band in its early years. The band is currently trilingual, performing in Romanian, Russian and English. Cuibul is the longest Moldovan music band still active and touring in present days.
