A Derek Monteiro set is a full-bodied experience. Participation is mandatory as he lures the body awake with a diverse array of sounds ranging from Deep House to Hip Hop, swinging playfully through genres that have taken him from red carpet events to the ravey floors of the world’s best underground parties. An international staple, Derek has opened for long-standing legends including Felix Da Housecat and Derrick Carter. The Los Angeleno selector proudly holds movement as a former career, giving him the skills to master the sacred space we call the dance floor. Here Monteiro uses techno, garage, soulful vocals and dirty drums to bring listeners to a seemingly choreographed euphoria. Memorable by sight and sound, Derek happily sways behind the turntables with a grin that channels magic and good mischief. It is this infectious energy that keeps Monteiro in-demand globally. With Derek – the message is clear – “good music always feeds the soul.”
