Dmitry Spirin

Dmitry Spirin is a renowned Russian-speaking punk rock musician and former frontman of the band Tarakany!, which over the years went from underground basement shows to headlining major Russian and international festivals. Songs like “I’m Looking at Them,” “What Doesn’t Kill You,” “One of Us Two,” “5 Words,” “The Happiest Man on Earth,” and “Heart of a Dog” reached high chart positions and gained millions of streams across platforms. He co-wrote several well-known songs for the legendary band Bravo and recorded collaborations with artists such as Anacondaz, Louna, Noize MC, Anti-Flag, Frank Turner, Useless ID, Die Ärzte, and Sergey Mikhalok. In the band’s final years, Tarakany! was practically banned in Russia — concerts and tours were canceled, and the musicians faced persecution. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the band disbanded, and Dmitry emigrated to Argentina, believing it was the end of his musical career. But new songs began to emerge, and in 2024 he released his first solo album, Hot War, which entered various charts and playlists across streaming platforms, while music videos from it have gathered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. In the summer of 2025, Dmitry Spirin embarked on his first solo European tour, playing to sold-out venues in many cities. He is now preparing a new album of anti-war cover versions of songs by both well-known and underground Russian-speaking artists.
