dublon
A polished jazz house artist.
Emerging from the serene Norwegian landscape, dublon is a major player in the recent jazz house explosion. His sounds blend intricate instrumentation with driving house rhythms, conjuring images of dimly-lit wine bars and long summer nights. Having collected over 50 millions streams, and with a European tour culminating in a Jazz Cafe headline show, dublon is now bringing his sounds into the very clubs he’s been so inspired by. Nectar, his debut EP, is his most refined work yet, collating atmospheric toplines from vocalists and collaborations with renowned musicians Nathan Haines and Tour-Maubourg. It’s a collection of songs that emphasises his mastery of pop, classical and jazz sounds. ‘CPH’, featuring New Zealand’s Haines, is dublon’s salute to Copenhagen, a city he loves for its abundance of cultural spots. ‘Salve’ features Stockholm’s TABLE duo, who’ve been backed by SG Lewis, and Deza, a Texan vocalist he met at Lillehammer, who is a favourite of Tove Lo’s. The Tour-Maubourg-featuring ‘Brush’ has live-sounding percussion and deep washes of bass. Things come to an atmospheric close on the title track, a song that centres around cascading piano improvisation.
