Einherjer
A high-energy, nostalgic folk metal artist.
THE FIRE STILL BURNS Forged on the western shores of Norway in 1993, Einherjer stands among the pioneers of Norse heavy metal and one of the defining forces behind what became known as Viking Metal. Emerging from Haugesund, where the ancient sea route Norvegen once carried kings, traders and warriors along the Norwegian coast, Einherjer helped shape a distinctly Norse expression within metal—drawing inspiration from history, heritage and the landscapes of the North. Through landmark albums such as Dragons of the North, Odin Owns Ye All and Blot, as well as the Spellemann-nominated Av Oss, For Oss and North Star, the band has continuously evolved while remaining true to its roots. Their sound blends crushing riffs, epic melodies and a deep sense of cultural identity into something unmistakably their own. More than three decades after their formation, Einherjer returns to the source of their story with Lifeblood. Inspired by Karmsundet—the historic sea passage that helped give Norway its name—the album explores themes of ancestry, memory, belonging and the enduring connection between people and place. Einherjer stands firmly against the misuse of Norse heritage and rejects all political extremism. Their mission remains cultural and artistic: to explore, interpret and share the depth and power of the North through music. The fire lit on the western shores of Norway in 1993 still burns.
