EKLEKTIKA is drums with two horns - an instrumental trio from Riga, Latvia, featuring drummer Kārlis Roberts Kalējs, saxophonist Rūdolfs Pēteris Rubenis, and clarinetist Artūrs Bariss. Due to its unusual instrumentation, the group has developed a distinctive sound, enriched by audio effects and a blend of jazz, funk, fusion as well as progressive rock, Eastern music, minimalism, and psychedelia. While the trio’s core is built around drums and two wind instruments, their music also incorporates other instruments, which adds richness and variety to their compositions. Their self-produced debut album Encounters (2024) showcases this diverse musical approach and has received wide recognition. It received nominations for Best Debut Album and Best Jazz, Funk or Soul Album at the Latvian Music Recording Awards (2026) and the band was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Jazz, Funk or Soul Artist at Latvian Music Industry Awards (2026). EKLEKTIKA takes the listener on a journey through a wide range of sonic textures, allowing each person to experience the music in their own unique way.
