Contemporary folk artist Emily Ashberry is singer-songwriter-come-balladeer with an innate feeling for crafting meaningful stories through her music. Emily’s debut EP ‘Roots’, released in 2023, showcased her traditional background, and received multiple plays on BBC Introducing, while her second EP ‘A Pleasure To Teach’ was described by Nottingham’s LeftLion as “a superb example of what modern folk song writing can achieve”. Now, her latest work ventures into the world of Americana and bluegrass-inspired sounds; produced with a generous grant from the Alan Surtees Trust, Emily’s debut album straddles two continents, exploring the deep-rooted connection between English and American folk music.
