Born in Erzurum In 1971, Erdal Erzincan began to play the bağlama at a very young age. He moved to İstanbul in 1981 and started to take music lessons in the Arif Sağ Music School, one of the most prestigious music schools at that time, in 1985. He started studying at İstanbul Technical University (ITU) Turkish State Conservatory of Music in 1989. In 1990 , he established his own music school offering Bağlama education He has released many albums with both instrumental and vocal music since 1994. In 2004, he founded the Bağlama Orchestra consisting of his own students, and gave concerts with this orchestra. The book named Bağlama Metodu co-written with Arif Sağ was published in 2009. He has given many solo concerts as well as playing with master instrumentalists in different parts of the world. He organized workshops at universities and schools both home and abroad. Currently, he has launched a project called Travelling Bağlama Classes for the children in the east of Anatolia deprived of educational opportunities in big cities.
