Fil Caporali is a Brazilian double bass player and composer, weaving melodies that drift between memory and dream. Rooted in Brazilian rhythms, shaped by chamber music, and expanded through jazz, his music balances structure and improvisation. A Toots Thielemans Jazz Award (2016) laureate, Fil leads and co-leads projects like Moon Souvenirs, Moanin’ Birds, Fil Caporali 5tet, and his duo with Tsai Wen-Hui, while also collaborating with bands like Commander Spoon, Pauline Leblond Double Quartet, Synestet, Amorosa among many others. His music, sometimes melancholic, sometimes wild, always alive, has resonated from Brussels Jazz Festival to Rome’s Parco Della Musica, China to Panama. Currently pursuing a PhD at Vrije Universiteit Brussel/Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, Fil continues shaping sound into vivid journeys—where nostalgia meets the unknown, and every note tells a story.
