The solo project of London-based artist Alice Western, Glass Eel weaves together sharp edged folk storytelling with the dissolving boundaries of psych, grunge and indie. After becoming obsessed with the mysterious life cycle of the eel, Western was inspired by the second, translucent phase of their life cycle - where the young creatures drift unseen through the ocean like strands of glass. The project captures a sense of dislocation, fragility, and survival in uncertain environments.
