Glasvegas are James Allan (vocals), Rab Allan (lead guitar) and Paul Donoghue (bass guitar). Glasvegas emerged from Glasgow’s East End in 2008 with a sound that fused soaring, distorted guitars, anthemic rock ’n’ roll and the voice of songwriter James Allan. Their self-titled debut album achieved platinum status and earned a Mercury Prize nomination, establishing the band as one of Scotland’s defining musical exports. Singles including ‘Geraldine’, ‘Daddy’s Gone’ and ‘Flowers & Football Tops’ captured wall of sound noise, emotional vulnerability and unflinching storytelling. Across four albums, from the widescreen ambition of Euphoric /// Heartbreak \\\\\\ to the self-produced introspection of Later...When The TV Turns To Static and Godspeed, Glasvegas have followed their own instincts, building a body of work shaped by heartbreak, identity, loss and redemption. Now signed to Modern Sky, the band return with Airy Fairy, their fifth studio album and first in six years, released on 2nd April 2027. Led by the reflective single ‘Degüello’, the album finds James Allan revisiting the past with a new perspective, embracing the imperfections that have always fuelled his songwriting. Nearly two decades on from their breakthrough, Glasvegas’ influence can be heard in the work of subsequent Scottish bands and artists who, inspired by the band, have followed in their footsteps, embraced their cultural heritage and created music that speaks to their own experiences.
