Described by Gramophone as a “forward-thinking ensemble” Her Ensemble merges classical and contemporary worlds through genre-fluid programming to platform music written by women, offering an unapologetically fresh perspective. Formed in 2020, the group was born in response to the stark underrepresentation of women in classical programming. At the time, director Ellie Consta was living with singer-songwriters and began writing strings for their songs. This opened up a whole new way of thinking about music, and a want to bridge the gap between musical worlds.
