Hiatus

The sun is setting when we start coming back into our selves. We walk to the lake, exchanging smiles with strangers whose lives seem to dance in their entirety before us. We seat ourselves at the water’s edge and talk about the experience, how it guides you towards this thing that you don’t even realise you’re afraid of, forces you to look at it, and at first you try to fight it, but when you look you realise that the thing you were afraid of is your own reflection, and in that moment your reflection vanishes, and there is only the clear surface of the lake.
