An underground art pop act.
Signed to Cardiff’s iconic Bubblewrap Collective (home to Georgia Ruth, The Gentle Good and Carwyn Ellis), HMS Morris are a band who thrive at the crossroads of art-pop, theatricality and fearless exploration. Described as “innovative, forward-thinking pop music” (Earthly Pleasures), “strange and beautiful” (Electronic Sound), and “a multi-dimensional sound that traipses across hitherto unexplored regions” (Clash), their music defies easy categorisation - and that’s exactly how they like it. All three of their albums have been shortlisted for the Welsh Music Prize, a testament to the band’s singular voice in the vibrant Welsh music scene. From euphoric synths to introspective lyrics and flamboyant stagecraft, HMS Morris craft sonic experiences that are as intellectually curious as they are emotionally powerful. Their unforgettable live shows have taken them across the globe - from SXSW in Texas to KMC in Osaka - as well as appearances at Green Man Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Other Voices and many more, dazzling audiences with a unique blend of joyful chaos and meticulous musicianship. The band were also awarded the Judges Prize at the SUNS Festival of Minority Languages, recognising their boundary-pushing approach to language and performance.
