Over the past several years, Boston’s House of Harm has carved out a place in the bleaker corners of underground music, balancing punk intensity with melodic tension that’s drawn comparisons to classic C86 bands, early 4AD, and 2000s post-punk revivalism. Formed in 2018, they gained attention with EPs that circulated online, building an international following drawn to their emotional clarity and atmosphere. Their debut Vicious Pastimes (2020, Avant! Records) introduced a polished yet raw sound that resonated with fans of The Chameleons and early Interpol, blending sharp hooks and icy textures with themes of longing, memory, and escape. Michael Rocheford, Tyler Kershaw, and Cooper Leardi have developed a live show that mirrors the mood of their recordings while allowing for spontaneity. They’ve toured extensively, sharing stages with The Chameleons, She Past Away, Lust For Youth, Editors, and Reeves Gabrels of The Cure. Their 2024 LP Playground marked a leap forward in songwriting and production, expanding their sonic palette while maintaining their signature tension and atmosphere.
