Hypostasis

Hypostasis are a Progressive Metal band from Athens, Greece. Playing music together since their school years, their first self-produced EP was released in 2016, a collection of songs showcasing the band’s chops in progressive metal, sharp and memorable riffs, and fluid melodies. At the same time, Hypostasis performed live shows in various venues of the Athens music scene. After a hiatus during which the band worked on composing new music and exploring deeper themes, their debut full-length concept album, “Birth of a Mask”, is finally complete. Scheduled for release on May 8th 2026, “Birth of a Mask” is the culmination of years of effort, and a showcase of the evolution of Hypostasis, both musically and personally. Fueled by this new material and life experience, Hypostasis are once again set to hit the stage, exposing their new face to the world. About the album: “Birth of a Mask” is a foray into the depths of a deeply scarred, deeply human soul. The lyrics and music are fundamentally intertwined, closely following each step in the main figure’s journey - physical or otherwise. Self-reflection and doubt, hope and despair, internal and external voices, the lines of perception are blurred into an explicitly emotional experience, all brought to life through pattern-defying compositions, layered themes, versatile vocal performances, and narrative-driven instrumentations.
