In a Darkened Room emerged from the shadows in the winter of 2020. Singer/guitarist CJ Duron, bassist Svia Svenlava, and pianist Kandi Keys came together to conjure a sound that was dark, sensual, and ever-evolving, turning their stories into soundtracks for life. What began as a collective journey became a love letter to the music and people who carried them through their hardest times. The band set out to create not just songs, but a reflection of themselves with stages transformed into ritual and expression. From this crucible came a sonic tapestry of gothic melancholy - songs steeped in longing, love, and loss, woven in a dreamlike haze. Each track pulses with enveloping basslines, cavernous reverb, and hypnotic vocals guiding listeners into reflection and catharsis. IDR first unveiled their dark mystery with Sorrows, a debut already regarded as an essential goth rock release. With their second chapter, they sharpened their teeth, exploring electronic textures, ethereal choruses, and rich harmonies. Their latest eight-song odyssey VOIX dives deeper into the shadows of the human heart, tracing trust, betrayal, passion, and lust. Brooding melodies and visceral lyrics capture the allure of vulnerability and the sting of deception, a descent into the beautiful darkness between desire and despair.
