Jannis Raptis

I’m Jannis — a wanderer at heart, trying to balance Dionysos and Apollo. Born in Germany, raised in Belgium, shaped in Austria, and carrying Greek blood in my veins, I’ve journeyed from the United States to the Far East and beyond. My story began with castles, knights, and the medieval tales of Central Europe, but it was the myths of my Greek heritage — heroes, gods, and the eternal struggle for order — that truly made me a storyteller. I first made my mark in the German high-fantasy scene with my world Elasphera and my fantasy-folk troubadour hymns. Yet the same fire eventually led me to the raw energy of Rock ’n’ Roll, the soul of Jazz, and the honest pulse of folk music from many lands. Not to follow trends, but to create something fiercer and more honest. That creation is TRAVELER — a 24-song cycle. These are anthems of life, struggle, and hard-won triumph, written from the perspective of a Third Culture Kid who has crossed many borders. I wrote them for the restless and the rooted alike — for those who would rather fight than fade away. No vague global anthems or woke slogans here. Just honest songs for warrior philosophers, seekers, and rebels who understand that real travel isn’t escape, but a forge that shapes who we truly are. So come walk (and sing) with me.
