An underground neo-psychedelic artist.
Julie Hill is a singer/ producer from Brooklyn, NY who makes a variety of sounds. Her music has received attention from Pitchfork, Stereogum, and KEXP. She tends to lean toward synth driven rock or ambient experimental music with inspiration from St. Vincent, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Suzanne Ciani, and many others. Julie started releasing albums in 2021, with the self-titled synth rock album Julie Hill (Galtta Records) - a collaboration with Texan indie artist Slugbug. In 2023, she released the psych-influenced “New Reality” EP (Manimal Records), poetic explorations of the liminality between fantasy and reality. Her latest album “glow serene” (Umé Records Japan, 2024) is a collection of ambient improvisations and experimental songs - meditations on love, memory, and mindfulness. In contrast, her single “Be Well” is a synth and guitar driven rock anthem about anxiety and the power of self-growth. Julie also takes pictures: www.juliehillphoto.com
