Loukoum, it’s a nod to DJ Mehdi’s Loukoums, a tribute mixtape to J Dilla’s Donuts, made of rough cuts and raw ideas. A concept of beautiful incompleteness that resonates deeply. Half rap, half electronic: always hybrid, always heartfelt. After nearly 8 years digging into French rap through a dedicated media project, Loukoum now channels her own sonic language. Hip-hop shaped her ears, but house and techno shaped her hands. Inspired by the grooves of Chicago and Detroit (Robert Hood, Inner City, Larry Heard) and the energy of the new UK scene (Mark Blair, Mall Grab, Ewan McVicar), she crafts a sound that's raw, percussive, and emotional. Her productions tell stories without ever losing sight of the dancefloor.
