Lowen
An underground progressive doom artist.
Lowen are a London based band who formed at an Akercocke concert in 2017. They play Middle Eastern progressive doom using instruments from Iran and explore ancient Sumerian and Akkadian poetry alongside modern Farsi and English lyrics. On October 4th 2024 their second full length album “Do Not Go To War With The Demons Of Mazandaran” was released to critical acclaim. The album reached no. 9 on the Metal Hammer albums of the year list and no.2 in their prog category as well as many other AOTY lists. Their first album "A Crypt in the Stars" was released on July 6th 2018 and was mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Cult Of Luna. Later in 2021 they released an acoustic live EP "Unceasing Lamentations" that captures an improvised performance by the band during lockdown.
