Mike Risk

Mike Risk’s relationship with house music spans more than three decades, from Amsterdam’s underground to dancefloors across Europe, the US and Asia. In 1994, he founded Club Risk, helping bring the deeper sounds of New York, Chicago and Detroit to the Netherlands. The parties welcomed artists including Derrick May, Lil Louis, Kevin Saunderson, Kerri Chandler, Masters At Work, DJ Deep, Todd Terry and Louie Vega. This period led to further concepts including Luvdancin and RiskSoundSystem. As a DJ, Mike moves between soulful and deep house, disco, Detroit influences, acid and the rawer sounds of New York and Chicago. He has performed at venues and festivals including Southport Weekender, Chosen Few Picnic Festival, Cielo, Ministry of Sound, Amsterdam Dance Event and Ce La Vi. His productions have appeared on labels connected to Kenny Dope and Terry Hunter, while RiskSoundSystem’s “The Sound Is Yours” was featured in the Netflix series Black Mirror. In 2026, Mike launches MWR.Music with “Let Me Take You There”, a collaboration with Chicago’s Mike Dunn and the first single from his debut album, Now Is Forever. Produced with Greg van Bueren, the 10-track album brings together more than three decades immersed in house music, with contributions from Mike Dunn, Bluey Robinson, Marc Evans, and John Agesilas, plus remixes from DJ Deep.
