An underground neoclassical act from the local scene.
Mit Hiss is a British instrumental band formed by sound recordists Nick Edward Harris and Cameron Niven who bonded over a shared fascination with sonic texture and experimental composition. Their self-titled debut is a self-produced work that eschews convention in favour of exploration - blending vintage instruments, analog tape machines, unconventional mic placement and found sounds into something genuinely distinctive. The result is an oft haunting collection that carves dark furrows between post-rock, folk and ambient neo-classical music, creating soundscapes that feel at once familiar and elusive, grounded yet ephemeral. Mit Hiss have shared stages with Marysia Osu, Ben Walker and performed as part of Jools Holland's curated concert celebrating the National Gallery's 200th Anniversary alongside Hinako Omori. This introspective sound seeks to exist in the liminal space between the delicate electronics, impressionistic guitar work and cinematic minimalism of The Album Leaf, Bibio and Balmorhea. “intensely intimate, and yet soaringly cinematic” Stephen Thomas - Folkroom
