An underground, nostalgic neofolk act.
Munknörr is a Dark Folk project founded in 2019 by composer and producer Damián Schneider, blending Nordic, Celtic, and Shamanic influences into atmospheric soundscapes. The name Munknörr, meaning “the ship of the mind” in Old Norse, reflects the project’s mission: to guide listeners on a spiritual journey through ancient myth, ritual, and nature. Soon after its creation, Greek folk singer Aethelwyne joined the project, and her magical voice became a defining element of Munknörr’s sound, transforming initial collaborations into a long-term artistic partnership. The music of Munknörr is characterized by ritualistic percussion, Nordic instruments, Celtic melodies, and shamanic atmospheres. Each album evolves with life experiences, weaving mystical atmospheres and primal energy. The discography includes Futharuna (2019), which introduced Munknörr’s pagan folk identity; Eikthyrnir (2020), with darker orchestration and Black Metal undertones; Shaman (2021), deeply ritualistic and trance-like; Ancient Spirit (2022) and Völuspá (2022), inspired by Norse mythology; and Norðr (2024), a landmark release blending healing music with shamanic beats. Munknörr has collaborated with several artists in the scene like Sigurboði, Rúnahild , Bjorth and Eldrvak. Official website: https://munknorr.com/
