A nostalgic, underground jazz artist.
Paul Morvan is presently one of the most sought-after drummers on the French straight ahead jazz scene. After a decade of touring internationally (USA, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Israel, Morocco, Madagascar, Denmark, etc...) with some of the leading musicians in jazz (including Jim Rotondi, Dmitry Baevsky, Peter Bernstein, Logan Richardson, Frank Basile, Joe Magnarelli, David Wong, Saul Rubin, Fabien Mary, David Sauzay, and Alain Jean-Marie, among many others), Morvan has formed his own trio featuring bassist David Wong (Hank Jones, Jimmy Heath, Roy Haynes, Benny Green) and alto saxophonist Dmitry Baevsky (Cedar Walton, Peter Bernstein). Paul Morvan’s debut recording as a leader features the trio digging into jazz classics by master American composers such as Thad Jones, Duke Pearson and Kenny Dorham, alongside original music by Morvan himself. The album is entitled “Dedicated”, and is set to be released in Spring 2025 on the Fresh Sound New Talent label.
