Prana

Prana is one of the most iconic, legendary, and seminal projects in the history of psychedelic electronic music, a true legend of the Goa Trance and Psytrance movement. Formed in London in 1994, the group was conceived by by pioneering Japanese DJ Tsuyoshi Suzuki, the founder of Matsuri Digital, and Australian producer Nick Taylor. Later, the talented English producer and multi-instrumentalist Andy Guthrie (known as 100th Monkey) joined the project, helping to cement the group's characteristic spatial, twisted and melodic sound. In 1996, with Nick's move to Australia, Andy officially joined the group, and the new lineup produced Prana's debut album: "Cyclone". The album set the standard for Goa Trance, combining deep, acidic basslines with hypnotic melodies and spacey textures. The following year, they released "Geomantik" (1997). Their 2nd album raising the bar for musical composition with heavyweight collaborations, such as Green Nuns of the Revolution, Total Eclipse, and Tristan, refining the project's sound into tracks that became true anthems. To celebrate the project's 30th anniversary, the three musicians reunited in the studio to produce what would be their first album together in the 21st century. "Sense of Unity" was released in 2024, combining Prana's vintage sonic DNA with modern production techniques. Alongside contemporaries like Man With No Name and Hallucinogen, Prana is celebrated as a cornerstone of Goa trance.
