Raised in Manchester and now based in Berlin, Prince of Hydro (formerly Black Eyes) builds deep house with weight. He calls it Hydro-Trip — raw, soulful and slightly tripped-out. It’s patient music. Built for rooms that understand space and time. A DJ first and always, he’s spent years shaping that sound behind the decks. Long blends. Controlled energy. Letting records unfold properly. The foundation runs deep — informed by Detroit producers like Mike Huckaby, Walt J, Omar S and Norm Talley, alongside European voices such as Motor City Drum Ensemble. The influence is there in the swing, the restraint, the low-end pressure — absorbed, not imitated. Through his imprint Lost Control 2097 and a seven-year residency with NTS Radio, he refined a sound that stays deep without drifting. More recently, sessions on Balamii Radio extended that reach, keeping things consistent and uncompromising. In 2023, his debut EP Hydro-Trip Vol. 1 sold out on release, featuring a remix from Rolando — a quiet acknowledgement of the lineage running through it. Now firmly rooted in Berlin, Prince of Hydro keeps it simple. No theatrics. No rush. Just deep records, properly played.
