SAHRA is a Berlin born, London based Vocalist and songwriter who began her musical life as a classical violinist. After discovering her love for singing as a teenager, she accepted a scholarship to study Jazz Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Winner of the Musicians’ Company Young Jazz Musician Award 2019, SAHRA’s debut EP received support from Bandcamp Daily, Clash, Jazzwise, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Introducing, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM, Jazz FM, Radio Nova & TSF Jazz. SAHRA’s versatile approach to singing has seen her work with the likes of Orphy Robinson, Dele Sosimi, Cleveland Watkiss MBE, Secret Sundaze and Ashley Henry to name a few. Performing at the London Jazz Festival, Havana Jazz Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Dimensions Festival, WOMAD and many more. SAHRA was invited to present her solo work at The Southbank Centre’s futuretense programme, Jazz Re:Fest Online 2020, The Jazz Cafe, We Out Here Festival & Future Bubblers Showcase in 2021. SAHRA has been awarded the PRS Women Make Music Fund
SAHRA creates a blend of R&B, soul, and jazz, often described as nu soul or UK R&B, drawing from her background in classical violin and jazz performance.
