A homegrown, underground jazz artist.
(BCN, 1978) Pianist, composer, improviser and multi-instrumentalist whose work moves between jazz, contemporary music, chamber writing, free improvisation and interdisciplinary performance. Classically trained from the age of six, he later shifted towards jazz. In 2001, he continued his studies at The New School (New York) where he could learn from leading figures such as Reggie Workman, Jane Ira bloom, George Garzone, among many others.In NY he takes piano lessons with Ben Waltzer, Fred Hersch, Bruce Barth, Larry Goldings, Magalí Souriau. Later on earned the Higher Degree in Piano Jazz (ESMUC). Throughout his career, Sirvent has led and developed numerous creative projects, reflecting his prolific and eclectic artistic personality. These include ensembles ranging from free-jazz formation to chamber-inspired groups or also more usual structured jazz formats. As a composer, Sirvent has written for small and large ensembles as well as for chamber music (string works, mostly). His catalogue includes over 70 albums, and so on. Many of them released by Fresh Sound Records. In 2015 founded Selffish Records, further consolidating his independence as a creator/producer. Sirvent's artistic identity is defined by authenticity, structural awareness, harmonic depth and improvisational freedom, positioning him as one of the most distinctive voices of his generation within the Catalan/Spanish creative music scene.
