We are Sonamó, a San Francisco global-groove band with an Italian backbone. Our story began when founder Giuseppe “Pino” Pinto brought the melodies of Naples to San Francisco, where they met Bay Area funk, jazz, Latin rhythms, Afrobeat and Brazilian influences. Our music is built for a live band: groove-first, warm, multilingual and made to move people. Our 2025 album Eclectic Radio brought that sound into focus. Arriving August 28, “María (En Cumbia)” rebuilds a song of lost love through cumbia, connecting Mediterranean melody with the Latino pulse of San Francisco’s Mission District.
