Sophie Joe

Sophie Joe's passion for music began in childhood. Starting piano at 5, she was singing on stage by 8 and soon took on professional gigs. At 16, she captivated Joss Stone at the Singapore International Jazz Festival, prompting Stone to remark, “No one ever sings for me; that’s never happened at a press conference before.” Her love for jazz blossomed under the mentorship of Michelle Poh and Alemay Fernandez. In 2019, Sophie was accepted into Berklee College of Music, where she studied under Grammy-winning vocalist Luciana Souza & Nacho Marco, deepening her interest in turntables. When the pandemic disrupted her studies, she started experimenting with genre-bending mixes. During this time, Sophie connected with Courtesy, producing Night Journeys II, featured at the CHANEL Fall-Winter 2022/23 Haute Couture Show. She also contributed to Courtesy’s debut album, fra eufori, performing at the release event at Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler in Berlin, where they presented "Gossip II" with artists Dim Ettra, Eddington Again, KLŌ, and Francesca Burattelli. Additionally, she was a featured vocalist on a latest single Gretel Girl (breadcrumbs) with Sofia D. Leiby, Spray, and Ben Meerwein.
