An underground, nostalgic indie rock act.
After two full length projects and their aptly titled 2025 EP, 'New Pop Experiments Vol. 1', Austin’s Stalefish proves they’re an endlessly kinetic force who only continues to evolve the longer they create together. The six-piece comprised of principal songwriters Dalton Hausman, Jake Magee, and Sam Franklin, alongside bandmates Avery Delost, Jonathen Pedraza, and Jonathan Cazares are back to share their latest, 'Bueno' (out October 9th, 2026), the group’s most cohesive and layered album to date. The LP extends Stalefish’s unique brand of slacker rock through joyous and progressively grandiose arrangements. Featuring the essential electric guitar, synthesizer, the band’s trademark glockenspiel, and even saxophone, 'Bueno' aims to bring ‘90s indie rock into the 2020s. Across the record’s 11 tracks, the band reckons with the realities of distance, change, and doing the things you love just for the sake of doing them sincerely. Perhaps most critically, 'Bueno' reasons with the desire for success and what artists are pressured to do to get it. Thrust into a world designed for one to fail, Stalefish rejects the discouragement, taking pride in how far they’ve come and pressing on, full steam ahead. As Hausman muses on “Superstar”, “It’s somethin’ for nothin’, and nothin’s quite somethin’, is it not?” - Helen Howard (2026)
