An underground post-rock artist from the local scene.
Montreal-based sound artist and researcher Steve Bates creates immersive works at the intersection of electronic music, ambient drone, and electroacoustic improvisation. His output ranges from textured field recordings and noise explorations to rhythmic experimental compositions released via labels like Constellation. Bates approaches sound as a threshold for examining physical space, acoustic ecology, and sensory perception.
