Tereza Catarov

Tereza Catarov is a London-based Romanian/Bulgarian musician whose work bridges contemporary jazz with the rich folk traditions of Eastern Europe and Balkan music. A singer, pianist, and composer, her music is deeply rooted in the melodies of her childhood, blending Romanian and Bulgarian influences with modern jazz and improvisation. Born in Timișoara, Romania, Tereza's musical journey began at the age of three, singing at folk festivals before studying classical piano from the age of five. Her formal education includes studies at the National University of Music in Bucharest, a first-class Bachelor’s degree in jazz singing from the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, and a Master’s degree with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Tereza has collaborated with acclaimed artists performed at renowned venues including the, Southbank Centre, Vortex Jazz Club, and Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho. Her music has been featured on Jazz FM, National Romanian Radio, and London Jazz News. With her evocative storytelling, expressive vocal style, and deep respect for tradition, Tereza Catarov continues to shape a unique musical voice that resonates across cultures.
