An underground free jazz act.
The band was formed in 2014 in Szczecin. They made their debut with the album "Leon" in 2016 (listed in the TOP TEN jazz albums by PolishJazz journalists). In 2018, they recorded the music for the film "Zamoyski," and in the Jazz Forum 2018 readers' poll, The Beat Freaks ranked in the top ten electric jazz bands and in the category of "Band - New Hope." In 2019, their album "Stay Calm" was released. "The Mechanics of Nature" - premiere on April 22 - is the third studio album by The Beat Freaks, not counting the music for the film "Zamoyski - Sculptor with a Camera." The inspiration for the musicians was nature, its beauty, complexity, unpredictability, extremities, sounds, and the mechanisms that continuously regulate it. Nature speaks to us constantly - the musicians tried to capture its message and convey it through their sounds. Despite civilization's achievements, Nature still determines human life, and the Earth has been increasingly warning us not to go too far. It is beautiful but can also be deadly. The musicians wanted to convey these extremes through their sounds. „The Beat Freaks are a group of technically skilled, and despite their young age, already experienced artists who have their own vision of their music.” - Marek Romański (JAZZ FORUM) "Stay calm, step back, and let The Beat Freaks take everyone for a ride. Spend too much time fixated on any one moment and the rest of a fabulously written album will pass right by” - Kira Grunenberg (Downbeat)
