The Slackers
One of the most notable bands to emerge out of the New York City ska revival scene of the 1990s, the Slackers is currently comprised of vocalist/keyboardist Vic Ruggerio, guitarist Jayson Nugent, bassist Marcus Geard, saxophonist Dave Hillyard, trombonist Glen Pine, and drummer Ara Babajian. The Slackers started in NYC in 1991. Their first LP, Better Late Than Never dates to 1996. They have since released 10 more LPs, their most recent, Don't Let The Sunlight Fool Ya, was #1 on the Billboard Reggae Charts in 2022. The Slackers are best known for their songwriting that mixes ska, reggae, soul, boogaloo, and rocknroll, and for being one of the hardest touring bands in any genre. They average around 90 concerts a year in the USA, Canada, Europe, and South America.
