An underground, nostalgic doom metal act.
Witchrot crawled out of Toronto's underground in 2018 born from betrayal, a viral breakup post that Kerrang! called "the most metal breakup announcement of all time". Led by vocalist Lea Reto and guitarist Peter Turik, rounded out by drummer Myles Deck (Cauldron), bassist Jon Ferreira, and keyboardist Patrick Sherrard. Metal Hammer calls it "doom-meets-sludge-meets-gaze": crushing fuzz, haunted atmospheres, and Reto's voice cutting through it all like smoke through stone. Their 2025 album Soul Cellar is their fullest statement yet. MetalSucks called it "dark, deep, and heavy doom metal to break your neck to." Metal Epidemic wrote you'd be "hard-pressed to find anything else right now quite like this." The Sleeping Shaman described it as an introduction to a "jazz, doom and psychedelic fused world." It hit #6 on the Doom Charts and sent them across Europe and the UK.
