Memory Unwrapped
A nostalgic, underground chamber music night.
The Brodsky Quartet presents a programme inspired by memories, featuring a diverse range of string quartet works. The evening begins with Robert Davidson's Stradbroke, a melodic evocation of a tropical island off the coast of Brisbane. Osvaldo Golijov’s Tenebrae follows, offering a haunting juxtaposition of war-torn urban experiences and celestial vistas. The second half includes Bela Bartók’s emotional Sixth Quartet, written during his exile from Hungary, and concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s celebrated American Quartet, which captures the composer's joyful discovery of the United States. The performance explores themes of euphoria, tragedy, optimism, and nostalgia.
